Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Carleton University invites applications from qualified candidates for a tenure-track appointment in Environmental Studies at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2018.

Applications are invited from scholars doing empirically grounded and theoretically significant research from a critical social science perspective who are excited to contribute to our Environmental Studies program. We seek a dynamic colleague to complement and expand existing departmental strengths in research and teaching through work that broadens how the environment is understood, and how environmental challenges are addressed. We welcome applications from scholars focusing on issues such as race, identity, inequality, and justice, as well as those who draw on innovative approaches (for example, feminist political ecology, action research, or Indigenous methodologies) to examine topics that might include but are by no means limited to climate change, water, health, and food or agriculture. Demonstrated commitments to engaged scholarship, or research in conversation with the natural sciences, will be considered assets. Special consideration will be given to applicants who increase departmental faculty diversity. Visiting Lecturers in Environmental Analysis and GIS
The Environmental Analysis Program at Pomona College is seeking lecturers (part-time faculty) to teach one or more courses in introductory Environmental Analysis and Geographical Information Systems (GIS), relative to their particular interests and knowledge base. The following courses are available:

EA10 Introduction to Environmental Analysis: Examines the history of environmental change over the past century, the environmental ramifications of economic and technological decisions, lifestyles and personal choice and the need to evaluate environmental arguments critically. Students consider the complexities and conflicts between the economic development, population growth, and environmental resources by through selected readings, class discussions, interactive lectures, multimedia, written papers, quizzes, and problem sets. The popular course is often the only Environmental Analysis course taken and is in high demand.

EA20 Nature, Culture, and Society. An EAP introductory core course. This required class for all EA majors and minors is especially designed for sophomores and juniors. It will employ case studies to help analyze some key contemporary environmental dilemmas. Topics will vary but will draw on an interdisciplinary array of sources in the humanities and social sciences, including history, philosophy and literature; religion, art, politics and sociology.

EA30 Science and the Environment. This course introduces the basic principles of environmental science with applications in chemistry, ecology and geology, and is part of the core course requirements for the Environmental Analysis major. The course provides a natural science foundation for EA as one way to understand the environment. Topics covered include a discussion of ecosystems, climate change, energy and food production, land resources, pollution and sustainable development. A full laboratory accompanies the course and will include field and laboratory work and as emphasis on introduction to Geographical Information System (GIS) mapping and statistics.

EA100 Introduction to GIS for Environmental Analysis. This course introduces students to a range of toolbox skills to analyze environmental resources and hazards. By using critical geography theory, this course, provides students with the capacity to evaluate the processes of map making, as a dialectic that can encourage discourse into the complexities of spatially explicit physical, cultural, and political processes that may improve or worsen environmental outcomes.

Pomona’s Environmental Analysis Program is one of the most highly ranked programs among liberal arts colleges. In collaboration with the other Claremont Colleges, the program provides opportunities for students to study environmental issues from a range of disciplinary perspectives such as economics, sustainability planning and design, environmental biology, and geology and the critical zone. Students in the major have a wide range of interests and appreciate faculty who can move between disciplines with some facility. The Environmental Analysis Program supports equal access to higher education and values working in a richly diverse environment. The successful candidate will have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving higher education for underrepresented students. Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Green Humanities. Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
Young and research-intensive, Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) is ranked 11th globally. It is also placed 1st among the world’s best young universities. The School of Humanities at NTU Singapore invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor under the interdisciplinary theme of Green Humanities. Candidates with expertise in any of the School’s subject areas (i.e., Chinese, English, Linguistics, History or Philosophy) are welcome to apply. A strong record of research and publications in Green or Environmental Humanities, with a focus on such issues as climate change, the anthropocene or environmental ethics will be an advantage. Candidates should possess a PhD and demonstrate a strong track record for research as well as a commitment to teaching and administrative service. The successful candidate is expected to assume duty in July 2018.
